In some day of October 1999 Theo van der Loo went to a music store in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, to post an ad looking for a drummer for his band. He could never imagine it would be in vain. In the store he met Raphael Laport and they began to chat about music and their favorite bands at the time. They instantly decided to jam together. That’s when Sayowa’s seed was planted. At that time the band was called Ritual and had Juca Infante on bass and the guitar player Hugo Gonzales. The first song they ever played together was Sepultura’s “Roots Bloody Rootsâ€.
