Phone Joan rose from the dark basements of the Oslo rock scene during the financial crisis in 2008-2009. Starved of anything that would give life meaning. The by:larm festival described Phone Joan as being a -ramshackle 70´s inspired orchestra-, a description the band likes, and enjoys throwing around. However, it´s more about the blues than anything, really. Whatever it is, it´s put through a -joan filter- of messy guitar and noise. Their songs are quite simple, their lyrics are desperate and the sound is raw.
